The PlayStation 4 home console from Sony has managed to keep its number one position in the hardware sales chart for the Japanese market, but the device has delivered just a few hundred platforms more to players than the 3DS.

The next-gen console has sold 35,294 units during the week that ended on March 9, according to data from Media Create quoted by NeoGAF, while the Nintendo handheld has managed to deliver 35,068 devices to its fan base.

Both platforms are in decline when compared to the previous week.

The PlayStation Vita handheld is also performing well and has managed to sell 33,287 units during the week, the only platform to see an increase.

The older PlayStation 3 sits at 12,102 in sales, while the Wii U has only managed to sell another 7,783 devices.

The best-selling video game of the week was Soul Sacrifice for the Vita from Sony, which managed to move 48,786 copies to players.

The rest of the top ten is made up of: Yo-kai Watch, Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru to Ruka no Fushigi na Fushigi na Kagi, Harvest Moon: Linking The New World, Ar Nosurge: Umareizuru Hoshi e Inoru Uta, Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear, Yakuza: Ishin!, Knack, Kirby Triple Deluxe and Pokemon X & Y.
