The PlayStation 4 home console continues to perform well on the Japanese market, but the device does not have the power required to sell better than the handhelds that are currently getting high-profile releases from a range of developers.
The Nintendo-made 3DS has managed to sell 42,647 units for the week that ended on May 4, which is a solid increase over the previous week, while the Sony-created PlayStation Vita has managed to deliver 25,606 devices to its own fans.
The PlayStation 4 is the best-selling home console and has seen an increase in its own numbers from 10,129 to 11,692.
The PlayStation 3 is under 10,000 units sold and the Wii U has also boosted its own sales figures to 8,217.
The best-selling video game, according to Media Create data reported by NeoGAF, is Yo-Kai Watch for the 3DS from Level 5, which has managed to deliver a little over 70,000 to its fans.
The rest of the top ten includes: Mario Golf: World Tour, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, Mario Party: Island Tour, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Style Savvy: Trendsetters – Tokimeki Up!, Famicom Remix 1+2, Child of Light on the PS4, and Child of Light on the PS3.
