The Nintendo 3DS might have dropped a few sales when compared to last week, but it still managed to become the best-selling piece of hardware in Japan for the first week of the year, with overall sales of 153,166 units, which is a slight decline when compared to the same period of 2014.

The platform continues to be boosted by the software that’s launched for it and it will be interesting to see whether it can maintain this pace all through the year.

For the week that ended on January 4, according to Media Create data from NeoGAF, the PlayStation Vita is in second place, boosting its sales to 58,005 coming from 43,495 in order to reclaim its old position.

The PlayStation 4 has also managed to post an increase and has reached 42,216 in order to take the final position on the podium away from the Wii U from Nintendo, which declined to 30,031 coming from 43,950.

The PS3 continues to sell well in Japan and the Xbox One is under 1,000 units.

Yo-kai Watch 2: Shin Uchi for the 3DS from Level 5 occupies the first place in the software chart, moving another 207,923 copies to players.

The rest of the top ten includes: Pokemon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Yo-kai Watch 2: Ganso / Honke, Final Fantasy Explorers, Gundam Breaker 2, and Grand Theft Auto V.
