The publisher Kalypso Media and the developers at bitComposer have announced that they are integrating the full functionality of the Steamworks suite from Valve into the upcoming Jagged Alliance” Back in Action video game.

This means that players who get the packaged version of the game will be able to use the unique code supplied in order to register on Steam and play without having the DVD in the tray.

The Steamworks suite also allows for updates to quickly be delivered to Jagged Alliance and for the integration of group voice chat and Steam based achievements.

The new Jagged Alliance: Back in Action allows gamers to return to the fictional island nation of Arulco, again joining the ranks of a small group of rebels who are trying to resist the assault of a powerful dictator.

The big change for the series is the new Plan & Go system which mixes the core real time strategy mechanics with some elements taken from the turn based genre, giving the player tactical options while also keeping the action exciting.
