Satoru Iwata, the chief executive officer of Nintendo, says that his company currently has no plans to reduce the price of its Wii U home console in order to drive up sales of the device.

At the moment, the hardware maker is more interested in increasing the number of high-profile titles available for the gaming platform and in creating experiences that manage to show off the interesting features it has.

Iwata is quoted by Gamespot as saying that, “Because from the very beginning we came up with a very aggressive price point. We do not think is a very easy option to take.”

Since it was launched in late 2011, the Wii U has failed to match sales projections from Nintendo.

The company still wants to deliver more than 9 million consoles to gamers during the current fiscal year.
