A number of veterans from Irrational Games and Harmonix have announced the formation of a new studio called Eerie Canal Entertainment, an independent team that intends to focus on creating and developing eccentric game concepts.

Bryn Bennett, a former lead programmer at Irrational Games, Iron Lore, and Harmonix, added, “I've been working on AAA titles in the games industry for over 10 years now, and I love being able to work on a piece of fiction that no big studio would touch because it's so out there.”

He is working with Steven Kimura, former Irrational and Harmonix lead artist, Arthur Inasi, Harmonix audio lead, Aaron DeMuth, a former Harmonix artists, and Mallika Sundaramurthy.

Their first project is called Dreadline, a game that mixes action role-playing mechanics and elements of a real-time strategy title.

The gamer gets access to a team of monsters and needs to kill a number of humans who are already headed for their own deaths.

Dreadline will be launched on the PC during the first quarter of 2013.
