Developer Interceptor Entertainment has announced Bombshell, an upcoming top-down action role-playing game for the PC and PlayStation 4 platforms.

Interceptor Entertainment is most notably known for the 2013 re-imagining of the cult classic shooter Rise of the Triad, as well as for delivering Duke Nukem to Steam.

The upcoming game features Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, a former bomb-disposal specialist that has become a gun for hire.

Taking control of the heroine, players will make their way across four different planets in a pan-galactic adventure to rescue the president from an apocalyptic alien threat, making use of a never-before-seen arsenal of devastating weapons and a ton of cross-genre mechanics.

The game will feature a lot of top-down shooting action, with the protagonist's metal arm having more than 10 weaponized modifications with which to blow your way through legions of vicious and bloodthirsty predators and augmented alien species.

The developers have decided to create their own intellectual property after the lawsuit caused by their previous reveal of the alloutofgum.com website, noting that Bombshell hates bubble gum, sunglasses and blonde hair, which is not at all indicative of any popular video game character.

The game will be published by 3D Realms and is expected to land sometime in 2015, with more details to come at E3 2014.
