Developer Dennaton Games has announced the delay of Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to sometime in late 2014 or early 2015.

The ultra-violent retro-styled action game was initially expected out during 2014's third quarter, but the developer has taken to Twitter to announce that it will require some more time in order to add polish and improve the experience.

The video game is a direct continuation of the first title in the series, Hotline Miami, an original indie game that impressed both fans and critics with its approach.

The game oozes atmosphere, in spite of its minimalistic outlook, and the devs confessed that the strong '80s vibe was inspired by director Nicolas Winding Refn's action hit of 2011, "Drive."

The ultra-fast, blood-drenched experience is highlighted by pixelated, neon-colored visuals and a fitting electronic soundtrack, and it requires nothing short of mechanical perfection from players.

It was also the game that probably saw the most widespread adoption with cosplayers, its iconic animal masks popping up at gaming events all over the world.

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will come with a ton of neat, new features, such as the ability to dual-wield machine guns and to cut people down using a chainsaw.

In addition to this, the sequel will also ship with a level editor, enabling gamers to create their own levels and share them with the community.

Hotline Miami 2 is expected to come to PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
