There are some rumors floating around the Internet, telling how Crytek, the famous video game development studio behind the Crysis games and CryEngine, is facing some financial difficulties, which leads many to wonder about the fate of the announced sequel to Homefront, dubbed The Revolution.

Apparently, Crytek is alive and kicking, and Homefront: The Revolution has not veered off from its intended path, according to game designer Fasahat Salim.

"For us, we're really excited by the scale at which we're operating. We're pushing the CryEngine to its limits. This is one of the biggest worlds we've [ever] built at Crytek. So we're very excited about it," Salim says on GameSpot.

The game tells the story of a resistance movement, after the United States of America is successfully invaded by the North Korean army, with the events taking place four years after the occupation forces set up their main camp in Philadelphia.

"When we were thinking about this game, we could have based it anywhere. We wanted to go with Philadelphia because there's a lot of symbolic significance in Philadelphia. It's the birthplace of US independence. To this day, it has a lot of iconic buildings built around independence. It's home to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall," Salim explains.

Homefront: The Revolution is currently scheduled to come out sometime in 2015, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
