Hohokum looks like a very interesting mix of color and shape, and definitely artistic enough to garner attention from a wide user base, but the question still remains, what exactly is it?

The game is coming out on August 12, on the PlayStation Network, headed to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms, cross-buy enabled, and it feels like a surreal blend of peaceful, chaotic, wacky and weird.

The new launch trailer released by London-based developer Honeyslug does nothing to help gain a better grasp of what exactly the game is about, aside from people riding on elephant-crocodiles and soaring through the air with a colored snake-thingy.

That's actually the game's main premise, players fly around a colorful and intriguing 2D landscape, and the developers seem to be withholding information regarding what exactly the game is about on purpose.

"It is a curious and surprising game. The best way to find out what Hohokum is about is to play it for yourself," says co-creator Richard Hogg.

A little on the vague side, but the game is meant to surprise its players, as it was created from the developer's desire to come up with something new, something that strays from the usual goal-oriented design found in most video games, where you are constantly told where to go and what to do.

Hohokum is coming out on August 12 in North America, and August 13 in Europe, exclusively on the PlayStation Network.
