Gamers will have more diversity that they can handle

The team at Hello Games working on No Man’s Sky says that it has rebuilt the game in order to use an initial 64-bit number to generate its universe, which means that gamers would need close to 5 billion years in order to see all the created planets, even if they only spent one second on each.

The information comes from IGN, and the studio says that the move to 64-bit was made after some fans said that it would be impossible for the game to be so varied, a statement that was made when the initial universe key was only based on a 32-bit number.

No Man’s Sky aims to create an entire galaxy that gamers can explore at will while gathering resources and trying to discover the most interesting creatures and planets that the engine has put together.

Hello Games says that it wants to make the sense of discovery a part of the video game medium again, and the size of the universe is designed to keep players involved in the long term.

No Man’s Sky will be launched at some point in 2014 on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and on the PC, and the team says a big announcement about the title is coming soon.
