The development team at Blizzard working on Hearthstone says that it is doing its best to make sure that the free-to-play nature of the game does not affect its ability to offer valuable content to those players who are willing to pay.

Jason Chayes, the production director, is quoted by Eurogamer as saying that, “We need to make sure people don't regret any purchase decisions. When people go in and buy a card pack they need to be getting awesome things which help enhance their collection.”

The developer says that plenty of people have achieved legendary status without paying any money.

At the same time, many players lack the time required to grind in Hearthstone and they like the fact that they can buy card packs.

Blizzard will continue to monitor how the game is played and will deliver more balance updates to make sure that paid content never feels overpowered.
