Expansion brings 100-200 new cards, adventures offer single-player depth

An interview with Hearthstone's Executive Producer Hamilton Chu revealed some very interesting news relating to the development team's plans for the future of the card game.

The interview transcript has been posted on Hearthpwn, detailing future updates as well as debunking some of the rumors going around.

New game content is being worked on, and premium additions will not affect gameplay balance in any way. The premium additions are primarily cosmetic ones, such as new heroes (Varian instead of Garrosh), new card backs and new game boards.

The team plans to add in-game achievements and more rewards for the ranked ladder at a later date, and the game's first expansion will bring between 100 to 200 new cards.

A new Adventure Mode is in the works, to be launched after the game's release, and adventures will contain new quests, game stages and cards (around 10 to 20).

Chu also specified that the team is not currently working on Death Knights and Monks, a 2v2 mode or observer mode (although that is on the to-do list), and that no non-Warcraft themed elements will be added.

Hearthstone has just entered open beta and is available to play for free.
