The development team at Harmonix, best known for creating the Rock Band franchise, announces that it has laid off a small number of employees because the company is currently shifting its priorities in the video game space.

A spokesperson tells Gamasutra that initial reports coming from Twitter are accurate and explains that, “We can confirm that a small number of Harmonix employees were let go today. This decision was made due to shifting staffing priorities for Harmonix's multiple future projects.”

The only game that Harmonix is currently known to work on is Fantasia: Music Evolved, which is set to be launched at an unspecified date on the new Xbox One and the older Xbox 360.

Reports were saying that most of the layoffs were linked to the art department of the company.

There are more than 150 people currently working at Harmonix.
