Marty O'Donnell, the composer who is best known to gamers for his contributions to the Halo series, is launching a lawsuit against video game developer Bungie for unpaid benefits, after being let go by the company earlier in the year.

He claims that the studio failed to compensate him for unused vacation time, paid time off and other benefits, according to the documents that VentureBeat has managed to acquire.

The lawsuit names Bungie Chief Executive Officer Harold Ryan as one of the culprits and says that he "has caused Bungie to violate applicable law and the Company’s policies and practices regarding payment of O’Donnell’s accrued but unpaid vacation time, paid time off, sabbatical time, and other benefits."

Marty O'Donnell states that other grievances against the creators of the Halo franchise also exist, but they are not listed other than to help him justify his claim of double damages.

The company has already filled an official answer in which it claims that it does not owe the composer anything and that it will fight him in court if necessary.

At the moment, Bungie is working on a new title called Destiny, which combines MMO and shooter elements and should be launched in the fall of this year.
