In the realm of speedruns, Valve's legendary first-person shooter, Half-Life, takes the cake by far, with the latest record being set at an incredible 20:41. Other games, however, deserve their time in the limelight, and this time it's Halo: Combat Evolved's turn to shine.

An aficionado of Bungie's Xbox debut title managed to clear Halo: Combat Evolved in a little under 100 minutes, recording a video of himself in the process of casually going through the entire game and setting the new record.

While the Half-Life video also came with an accompanying spreadsheet detailing all the people involved in the setting of the record and their progress through each of the game's sections, this one is a lot more organic and even seems a tad casual, with record-setter Andrew Halabourda calmly commenting on his progress and chatting throughout the vid.

While it is true that the competition in the Halo: Combat Evolved speedrun arena is far less cut-throat than it is in the case of Valve's shooter, that doesn't mean that the feat is any less impressive.

Halabourda has even published a Halo trick list, as well as a full-on game guide, for those interested in attempting to mimic his performance.

Meanwhile, we're hoping that Microsoft will make good on its promise to announce both new IP as well as sequels at this year's E3 and offer us a glimpse of Halo 5.
