The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are announcing that the much awaited beta stage for the new Halo 5: Guardians will be officially launched on December 29 of this year on the Xbox One home console and will run until January 18 of next year.

The information comes from both the Twitter account of the series and from a new video that offers players a first look at the kind of content that they will be able to experience if they participate.

The focus of the beta stage for Halo 5: Guardians will be on 4 versus 4 arena style battles, which will showcase some of the most interesting features of the multiplayer included in the new title.

Those who pre-order the Halo: The Master Chief Collection ahead of its launch on November 11 will be able to get a special code that can be unlocked at the beginning of December.

343 Industries says that some of the content that will be unlocked during the testing period for the shooter will be transferred to the final version, although it did not offer details on its nature.

The full launch of Halo 5: Guardians will take place only on the Xbox One at some point in the fall of next year.
