A new report suggests that the newly launched Halo 4 has seen a steeper decline in players than the previous title in the series, Reach, despite delivering higher sales during the first day it was available in stores.

Raptr has tracked playtime for the two video games and says that 343 Industries has failed to sustain long-term interest in Halo 4 despite the fact that it has created a revamped multiplayer and has launched the new Spartan Ops episodic cooperative mode.

Reach was the final title in the franchise created by the original Bungie team.

Halo 4 was developed by the new 343 Industries studio and this will also be in charge of another two titles in the Forerunner trilogy.

Microsoft has recently registered trademarks for new titles called Bootcamp and Spartan Assault.
