Some people are digging for gems, others for answers

The fun little platformer's PC version will be coming to Steam later this week, and it comes bearing good news for all. Or does it?

On paper, it sounds like a mind-wrenching torture. Dig, sell, buy better diggings tools, rinse and repeat, then dig some more. But as it turns out, the reality of grinding rocks to a pulp is a much more exhilarating experience.

Buried deep within the cavernous game lies a scene reminiscent of the arduous waiting game fans usually play while their lives wane, facing the cruel development cycles most sought-after titles have to endure, as unearthed by GG:3.

A recognizable logo next to a familiar face, the ill-fated number 3 and a line of eager (but defunct) fans plaster the landscape surrounding a decrepit game store. Some may say that fate rings true, others might just consider this a long-awaited sign from the gods above.

It may be that the elusive Half-Life 3 lands just in time for Rapture.

Turns out, SteamWorld Dig doesn't take itself too seriously, to the relief of the crowds. It's designed to chuckle at itself and make you chuckle in turn, which is exactly what such a title ought to do.
