The development team at Sony Online Entertainment played its recently revealed H1Z1 during the previous week and two of the developers associated with the new MMO have streamed actual gameplay from the pre-alpha version of the title.

They also provide commentary linked to the core mechanics of the title and share some more details about the world that SOE is trying to create.

The video is 50 minutes long and the company makes it clear that everything that gamers see can be changed before the game becomes available to the public.

H1Z1 is an MMO that’s set to use core survival mechanics, a lot of them inspired by the DayZ experience, and will allow gamers to explore a complex world that’s dominated by undead where resources and allies are hard to come by.

John Smedley, the leader of the company, has said that the entire experience will be free to play, with microtransactions used to fund its long-term development.

SOE has not said when it plans to launch the game to the public, but it is likely that it will first offer a beta stage that will allow it to test the core mechanics.

The community could also actively create content for H1Z1, as they are doing for the upcoming EverQuest Next that’s also created by the company.
