The development team at ArenaNet announces that it is no longer developing its original Guild Wars MMO, in order to move all the core resources of the team to the sequel.

The title will remain playable and gamers will see no change in their experience, other than the fact that the entire support for Guild Wars will now be handled via an automated system.

The official site states, “While we will not be producing new content, the Live Team will still be around to perform critical fixes for crashes or other serious issues.”

Apparently, ArenaNet wants to keep the original Guild Wars running for a number of years and will continue to deliver rewards, monthly tournaments and weekend events.

ArenaNet will use the resources in order to create more content for Guild Wars 2.
