Ash Monif, best known for being part of the leadership at Human Head, is forming a new studio called Grimm Bros., which aims to take the classic tales created by the two brothers and then adapt them in order to appeal to more modern audience.

The team says that it is aiming to mix humor that will recall Monty Python with dark elements from series like Evil Dead, all of them grafted on new gameplay mechanics.

Ash Monif is quoted by Joystiq as saying that, “I grew up reading the classics like Grimm, Chaucer, Tolkien – and I feel that today’s games gloss over a lot of the richness that can be found within these great works.”

Grimm Bros. will focus on role-playing games and adventures and their first title will be revealed next week during GDC.
