The development team at Positech Games announces that it is working on Gratuitous Space Battles 2, a full blown sequel to the first title in the series, which is at the moment set to be launched on the PC before the end of 2014.

The official announcement states that “The sequel will hold true to the basic theme of the original game, but will have a complete engine re-write, and a vast range of cool new features yet to be announced. We can definitely confirm that the new game will have achievements, multiple-monitor support, and mod support.”

Gamers will be able to once more design their own ships and fleets and then send them into hands-off battles against powerful alien forces.

Gratuitous Space Battles 2 will include three new classes of ships, including the powerful dreadnought, but also destroyers and gunships, designed to give fleets more tactical options.

The developers at Positech Games are saying that they have been listening to all the feedback coming from the hardware fan community and will implement a number of changes, including limited fuel for fighters and better orders for the various player fleets.

Gratuitous Space Battles 2 will also include more social elements and will allow gamers to experience an enhanced multiplayer mode.
