The difference between the two versions is incredible, to say the least

During last week's E3 convention, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 was announced for the Xbox one, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms, and already the first glimpse of next-gen visuals is upon us.

The fine folks at Digital Foundry have taken it upon themselves to put together a montage of the two trailers for the game, the PlayStation 3 edition and the PlayStation 4 one, showcasing the difference in visual detail, which is astounding.

The video puts together footage from both current- and next-gen Grand Theft Auto 5, in a side-by-side comparison that highlights just how much better the new version looks.

Some of the more stark contrasts involve a lot more clutter, higher-quality textures, waves crashing on the shoreline, many more animals going about their business in the forest as well as under the sea, not to mention a ton of lighting details on vehicles, factories and signs.

Grand Theft Auto 5 first arrived on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms in September 2013 and is currently looking to make its debut on the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms this fall.

In addition to the enhanced visuals, the PC version of the open-world action adventure game will also come with a video editing feature designed to allow advanced movie editing on PC.
