The development team at Polyphony Digital and publisher Sony announces that, when their upcoming Gran Turismo 6 launches, gamers will be able to use real-world money in order to get game currency that can be used to expand their car collection.

The companies explain on the PS Blog that, “in-game credits will be purchasable through PS Store or your friendly local retailer at the following denominations: 500K, 1 million, 2.5 million or 7 million credits which you’ll be able to apply in-game for cars and parts.”

All the cars included in the game, and there are more than 1,000 of them in total, can be obtained through regular gameplay for those who are unwilling to spend money.

The option only exists to give players who lack the time a simple way of accessing a vehicle they love.

Gran Turismo 6 will be offered exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on December 6.
