Blind Wink Productions, a game development company started by Gore Verbinki, the director behind the Pirates of the Caribbean series, has signed a long term deal with Microsoft which will see it launch a Xbox Live Arcade game during 2012.

It seems that the deal aims mainly to inject more cinematic elements into the XBLA platform.

Gore Verbinski stated, “Audiences consume content very differently today. As an idea house, we at Blind Wink are looking forward to our partnership with Microsoft. Their various platforms give us access to new methods of distribution, allowing us to extend into emerging markets and connect more directly with the audience.”

It’s not clear whether the XBLA game will be based on Rango, the most recent movie from Verbinski, or whether they are working on something original.

Verbinski was also set to direct a movie adaptation of the original BioShock video game back in 2008 but he has since dropped the project because it failed to get off the ground.
