Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband, the German consumer rights group that has sued Valve, hopes that its case against the company linked to lack of resale capabilities on Steam will go in front of a court before the end of the year.

Eva Hoffschulte, a spokesperson for the group, is quoted by GamesOnNet as saying that, “a date of the trial is not fixed, we hope it will take place this year. Until then, it is not realistic that Valve will change their policy.”

The German group decided to launch legal action after the European Commission issued a landmark ruling that stipulated that consumers should have the freedom to resell any kind of good that they buy.

Valve has long maintained that it has no plans to allow for the resale of its digitally distributed titles on Steam.

At the moment, limited trade-in capabilities are offered by Green Man Gaming.
