Microsoft doesn't have anything to do with the creation of a new Gears of War

Fans of the Gears of War saga made by Epic Games should ask the studio about a potential sequel for it on the Xbox One, as Microsoft doesn't have anything to do with the development of the new title.

One of the defining franchises for the Xbox 360 was Gears of War, a series of third-person shooters that appeared exclusively on the Microsoft console, thanks to a strategic partnership between the company and developer Epic Games.

Even so, the property is still owned by Epic, and the studio hasn’t denied a potential multi-platform release for future games in the series.

Seeing as how the Xbox One is set to debut this November, Epic Games has made no mention about a Gears of War title for the next-gen console.

As such, fans shouldn't keep asking Microsoft about such a sequel, according to the company's Phil Spencer, who has told DualShockers that "We haven’t announced anything yet about Gears of War, but we hope to bring it to Xbox One in some form."

Epic is currently working on multiple game projects, including the long awaited Fortnite.
