Matrix Games, Slitherine and the developers at 2by3 Games have announced that one of the most successful hardcore strategy games of 2010, Gary Grigsby’s War in the East is getting an expansion called Don to the Danube, which comes complete with new battles and scenarios for wargamers to experience.

The new content is set to appear late during February and gamers will be able to get the expansion for 14.99 dollars (11.4 Euro) if they choose the download version or for 24.99 dollars (19.04 Euro) if they choose the retail copy.

The Don to the Danube expansion will include late war scenarios including one ranging from a short version of the Battle of Kharkov, which will take six turns, to a much larger scenario called Drama on the Danube.

It takes place from the summer of 1944 to the spring of 1945 and simulates the final desperate confrontations on the banks of the mighty river as the Russians broke the German line.

The developers are also promising a number of enhanced and tweaked features, which will also be included in the 1.06.00 version of Gary Grigsby’s War in the East.
