A new report suggests that about one quarter of all the video games featured in the Clueless Gamer segment of the Conan O’Brien late night show were only chosen because either a developer or a publisher chose to pay the producers.

Re/code states that, “One source familiar with the show's practices said about a quarter of the games that were featured on the skit were paid endorsement deals. None of these deals are disclosed to the public.”

The full report has more information on the practice and quotes from some developers who were involved in the Clueless Gamer segment.

The information comes after gamers reacted pretty negatively to the revelation that Microsoft and Machinima were paying extra for YouTube personalities to offer only positive opinions on the Xbox One as part of a promotion.

Conan O’Brien has managed to capture a younger audience, much appreciated in the television world, by featuring video games on his show and the new info might affect his long-term prospects.
