Gamers will be able to conquer an entire galaxy

Chris King and Pontus Åberg, two veterans of the strategy genre, are announcing that they are forming a new development studio called Crispon Games, which is partnering with publisher Argonauts Interactive in order to launch a new 4X title called Galactic Inheritors.

The title will challenge gamers to explore, expand, exploit and exterminate when the experience is offered on the Early Access service from Steam on February 10.

Galactic Inheritors is designed to deliver some classic 4X experiences, with a new universe that mixes real world science with fictional new tech and with complex mechanics that will appeal to hardcore gamers.

Players will start off as the new leader of a relatively powerless empire, and they will have to explore a big galaxy, deal with other civilizations and decide how to interact with them as they try to expand their influence.

Galactic Inheritors will involve both manipulation and direct application of force, and the developers are saying that there are a variety of strategies that can be tested.

Chris King, co-founder of Crispon Games and lead designer of Galactic Inheritors, is quoted as saying, “I very much enjoyed my time at Paradox and am proud of the great games we made there. However, I deeply felt Galactic Inheritors is a game I needed to make, and make outside the constraints of a bigger studio. I knew I would deeply regret not taking the chance to make it happen.”

King has worked on titles like Hearts of Iron, Victoria, Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings.
