The upcoming and much-sought-after Grand Theft Auto Online Heists DLC seems to be getting closer and closer to release, according to some users on the game's forums.

On the Grand Theft Auto Forums, a user posted some codes that may be related to Heists, discovered in the Independence Day DLC that Rockstar released at the beginning of July.

The user claims that Rockstar is working on Heists right now, as the strings he revealed show that the devs "can turn off heists via tunables.json" and they "added script 'am_heist_int' within 1.15," which is a reference to the Independence Day DLC, and which he thinks is for the heists planning room.

Rockstar said a few weeks ago that they would be delaying Heists, a feature which the open-world action adventure game's fans have been eagerly awaiting for almost a year.

The 4th of July themed special update features several clear references to Heist Mode, such as Rewards, Fees, Reward Splits and Medals.

Although monitoring the game's processing strings is not exactly the most reliable gauge of progress, the fact that the dormant code is present is a clear indication of the fact that Heists are underway.

Over the eight months that passed since the game went live, numerous bits of code have been discovered, pertaining to potential new weapons, vehicles, buildings and game modes, and only a portion of them have manage to come to fruition so far, while others were just misinterpreted.
