The teams at developer Turn 10, publisher Microsoft and automotive company McLaren are partnering to create a short movie called FilmSpeed, which showcases the fastest zoetrope in the world, filmed using Forza Motorsport 5 and the McLaren 12C.

The car, driven by racing and stunt driver Tanner Foust, runs around a track with a Hollywood-designed High Definition camera rig strapped to its roof.

On it, the teams have placed images from Forza Motorsport 5 six inches apart in order to allow the driver to match speed and create the zoetrope.

Jeff Zwart, automotive director and rally champion, directed the entire project and created the final cut of the FilmSpeed video.

The companies state in the official Xbox One site that, “the basic concept of the zoetrope rings true. The more illustrations you use and the faster you flip between them, the smoother the animation.”

Forza Motorsport 5 will be launched on November 22 alongside the Xbox One in 13 major markets.
