Tradeoffs were made when bringing the game to the old console, as opposed to Xbox One

Forza Horizon 2 is set to launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360 this fall, and developer Playground Games has confirmed that the title will lack certain features on the old console, such as the weather system or the drivatar cloud mechanic.

Forza Horizon 2 launches this fall and, unlike last year's Forza Motorsport 5, it will debut on the Xbox One, where it's made by Playground Games, but also on the Xbox 360, as developer Sumo Digital is handling that experience.

On the Xbox 360, Playground's Ralph Fulton has told DigitalSpy that the game is based on the same world but will have a different engine, the old Forza Horizon one, as well as fewer features.

"It's based in the same world, it's based on the same themes. Rather than thinking of them as the same game on different platforms, they are different games inspired by the same ideas. There are things we are doing in Forza Horizon 2 on Xbox One that honestly couldn't be done on any other console," he said.

Among the features that are impossible on Xbox 360 are the weather system or the Drivatar mechanic, meaning old consoles owners shouldn't expect them if they get Horizon 2 on Xbox 360.
