The Deep South concept was never worked on by Playground Games

Forza Horizon 2 developer Playground Games has revealed that the old reports about the title taking place in the southern United States of America were all bogus and that the alleged concept art that appeared wasn't from any of its projects.

Forza Horizon 2 was revealed to the world a few weeks ago and, at E3 2014 last month, it received lots of gameplay footage and plenty of details about its racing mechanics and how it takes place in the Southern part of Europe.

However, before the reveal, there were many rumors going around about the possible location of Horizon 2, as it was clear that Playground Games wasn't going back to the roads of Colorado seen in the original Horizon.

A few concept artwork images appeared showing cars in the southern states of the U.S., like Louisiana, and it was apparently clear that Horizon 2 was sticking to the American environment.

During the initial reveal, however, it was confirmed that the new game was going south, but in Europe, not in the U.S.

According to Playground's Ralph Fulton, who talked with OutsideXbox, the concept artwork wasn't from a project made by his team.

"I don't know what that was. I think it was an artist who had done some concept work but it was never attached to Playground," he said.

Forza Horizon 2 launches this fall for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
