The development team at Red 5 Studios announces that its upcoming MMO Firefall is set to launch a new Beta Weekend period on Friday, allowing players to try out the game for a 48-hour period.

Two other such periods are expected later during the year, in February and in March, in order to help the company stress test the infrastructure and the mechanics of the MMO.

James Macauley, the vice president of development at Red 5 Studios, states, “This will be the first time that we’ve opened up Firefall’s servers to everyone. We’re really looking forward to gathering a bunch of new feedback and data that will help us build up to launch this year.”

Red 5 Studios is also giving players a chance to take part in a number of competitions during the weekend: two focused on Skillshots, both video and screenshot, and one for Community Unlock, to get a customized Battleframe.
