Yoshinori Kitase, the executive producer working on the new Final Fantasy XV, says that the development process for the Japanese role-playing game is at the moment quite advanced and that his team is looking to exploit the increased computing power of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

He is quoted by VideoGamer as saying that, “Having a lot more characters, a lot more things happening, that's one of the things that the new hardware does really well, so to maybe make a battle system for a Final Fantasy game or a future game that fits with that.”

The developer also explains that there is no competition for resources between Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 inside Square Enix.

The new title is designed to exist in the Fabula Nova Chrystallis universe, but the team is making some major changes to the narrative and the core mechanics.
