Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn players who haven't visited Eorzea in a while will get a chance to see the latest updates to the game this weekend.

The game will feature a limited free-to-play event at the end of the week, when lapsing players will be allowed to check out the new content delivered in patch 2.1, featuring a brand new 24-man raid, additional PvP content, some extreme encounters with primals and more.

The Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn free-to-play event will unfortunately not be available for new players, as only those who have already bought the base game and registered it, then let their accounts go inactive will be eligible.

Returning players who want to maximize their game-time during the promo weekend would do well to download the client in advance.

The free-to-play event will begin on January 11 at 12:00 AM PST / 08:00 GMT and will end on January 13 at 12:00 AM PST / 08:00 GMT.
