Square Enix has confirmed that fans of its Final Fantasy series will be able to check out its latest iteration, XIII-2, later this week, thanks to a free demo that will appear both on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

After the original Final Fantasy XIII disappointed gamers, Square Enix is trying hard to show them that its sequel, XIII-2, will deliver an improved experience.

Now, before the game’s release in North America and Europe at the end of this month, the Japanese company is getting ready to deploy a free demo for the game.

As such, Xbox 360 gamers will be able to check it out on January 11, at the same time as European PS3 owners, while North American PS3 users will be able to get the free trial one day early, on January 10.

The full pledged version of Final Fantasy XIII-2 is out on January 31, in North America, and February 3, in Europe, for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
