Publisher Electronic Arts has announced that it will be working with the team that created the Fight Night series in order to create a new UFC title, with the effort lead by general manager Dean Richards, who has experience with NHL and SSX, and creative director Brian Hayes.

The later stated that, “When we found out that EA and the UFC would be working together, the team was excited. Most of the team didn’t even know about it until the announcement at E3. We were all watching it together and when Andrew Wilson and Dana White took the stage, everybody starting cheering. It was great.”

It’s not clear how the experience with Fight Night will influence development of the new UFC title from EA Sports, given the very different nature of the two sports.

EA Sports is aiming to launch its game at some point during 2013 and has promised fans a life-like game with complex mechanics that will simulate all fight styles.
