Fortunately, sharing of challenge maps is still supported, so the editor won't be completely useless

It seems that Far Cry 4’s map editor won’t allow you to make competitive multiplayer maps, turning the entire notion of having such an editor in the first place into a pretty confusing one.

When the information transpired, angry users flocked to the game’s forums and sparked a heated debate on the subject, the relevant thread numbering 27 pages at the time of writing.

Ubisoft seems to be working really hard to lose friends and negatively influence people, with the news on the map editor in the upcoming open-world first-person shooter ruffling some feathers among the gaming community.

This was gleaned from a livestream of a leaked copy of the shooter, where the user informed its audience on Twitch that the editor did not support competitive multiplayer maps.

Ubisoft had not mentioned anything regarding this before the leak, and since then Alex Hutchinson, the title’s creative direction, addressed the issue via Twitter, saying that the feature could end up in the game post-launch, as the team plans to continue supporting Far Cry 4.

For the time being though, the editor will only work with challenge maps. Gamers will still be able to enjoy Assault, Hunt, Outpost and Extraction levels, and will be able to upload and share their creations with the game’s community.

Far Cry 4 is coming out next week, headed to the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and PC platforms.
