14 DAY TRIAL // Fallout: New Vegas is the latest installment in the post apocalyptic role playing game franchise and has been developed by Obsidian and published by Bethesda.
Anyone who spends more than 15-20 hours exploring the Mojave Wasteland will probably get sick of all the songs on the radio stations available to the playable character.
You have two major radio stations, Radio New Vegas and Mojave Music Radio.
The first is the most important, as it is ran by Mr. New Vegas, voiced by Wayne Newton, who keeps you informed with the major events happening around the Mojave Wasteland and, after you complete certain quests, with the results of your own actions.
What really amuses me is that Mr. New Vegas usually sounds like he's drunk or at least suffering from a cruel hangover when he reads the news.
While that may sound hilarious at first, you really get tired of it after a while, even more than Fallout 3's Three Dog, a DJ for the Galaxy News Radio, which had some of the worst catch phrases ever read by a virtual character.
What's even worse than Newton's voice is the small number of tracks played by the radio station.
If you make a game that can be played for 70 to 80 hours in total, you make sure that there are enough tracks to keep the player entertained, and not annoy him with the same old things.
The constant repetition of songs like Johnny Guitar or Big Iron is what made me search for other radio stations.
Mojave is a bit better, as it also plays some instrumental titles, but by far the most interesting one is Black Mountain radio, a sort of spoof on regular talk radio shows.
Sadly, this entertaining station is hampered by two things.
First off, there's a small signal area, meaning you can't listen to it all around the Wasteland (although there are mods to fix this).
Secondly, around the mid-way point, depending on your playthrough, you receive a quest to take down the station and defeat its crazy Super Mutant owner, which then takes it completely offline.
Afterward, you're stuck once more with listening to Mr. New Vegas and the same old songs.
