John Needham, the new leader of Lionhead, says that the upcoming Fable Legends launch will allow his team to create a new model, called games-as-service for the series, which will serve the franchise for the next ten years.

He is quoted by Edge as saying that, “My plan is that Legends is essentially a platform for almost everything Fable going forward. It’s a long-range plan, of five to ten years, where we’re going to build and keep building onto Fable Legends. That’s the nature of games as a service – you keep adding systems and features and content.”

Fable Legends will not be an MMO, but will have a lot of social features and will allow players to collaborate or compete with one another depending on their alignment.

The game will take place 1,000 years before the events of the single-player Fable story and will involve heroes and villains who are battling for control over the world.

The title will be offered exclusively on the Xbox One.
