Ted Timmins, franchise manager of the Fable series for Microsoft, believes that the new Fable Anniversary has tried to walk a fine line between modernity and nostalgia in order to create an experience that appeals to fans without feeling obsolete.

He tells VG247 that when evaluating quests to include, he found that, “Being frank, some are just a little bit rubbish. But then you can also look at it and see it as part of the charm. As much as I think something might not be great, there may be players out there who remember that quest as their favourite part of the game.”

The team was offered feedback from players, who explained that the game was significant for them personally and the decision was made to only modernize those areas that would attract direct criticism from the community.

Fable Anniversary is a remake of the classic Peter Molyneux title, which arrived ten years ago, and Lionhead is also working on Fable Legends, a title that will launch on the Xbox One.
