Andrew Wilson, the new chief executive officer of Electronic Arts, has mentioned that his company is currently working on a FIFA World Cup video game that is expected to be launched at some point in the 2015 fiscal year.

VideoGamer quotes the developer as saying during a call with investors that, “We are refining our focus on our biggest brands and great new IP in development, including The Sims 4, EA SPORTS UFC, FIFA World Cup and Dragon Age: Inquisition.”

Previously, sources inside EA Sports stated that the team lacked the resources to create a World Cup game and would focus on adding more content to FIFA 14.

The new title will probably use the same Ignite engine that powers the next-gen versions of other Electronic Arts sports games.

Given the popularity of FIFA 14, the World Cup game might be delivered as a downloadable add-on.
