The development team at EA Sports has launched a new gameplay-focused trailer for its upcoming FIFA 15 at Electronic Arts’ Gamescom 2014 press conference, which puts the focus on the goalkeepers and the heroic ways in which they save their teams from defeat.

The company says that the entire footage is made up of actual gameplay taken from the game and that a new set of realistic player models are used to simulate goalies with 50 new save animations added in order to increase variety.

As with all other players on the pitch, the goalkeepers in FIFA 15 have improved intelligence and can better judge when they need to rush out to get the ball and when they should stand their ground in the face of a powerful attacker.

The rain effects that are part of the trailer are also pretty impressive and show the new power of the Ignite engine and how it can take advantage of the more powerful hardware that players have access to.

FIFA 15 will be out on September 23 in North America and two days later in Europe, and gamers can enjoy it on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PC, and last-gen consoles.
