The company is still waiting for official announcements

The development team at EA Sports working on FIFA 14 says that it plans to deliver a new roster update that will apply to both FIFA 14, in the Kick-Off World Cup mode on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, and to 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil on the PS3 and Xbox 360 soon after the full squads are announced for the competition.

The process should start today and will allow the studio to lock down the exact players that are travelling to the real-world competition and then update the video game to reflect that.

At the same time, the company says that it understands that some players are frustrated that favorite players like Carvajal, Shaw, and Griezmann are not part of the World Cup content for the Ultimate Team mode.

In an official forum post, EA Sports explains that, “To prepare for our latest FUT World Cup title update, we needed to lock our roster database weeks before the national team preliminary World Cup squads were announced. Therefore, we looked at including players who have already made at least one competitive appearance for their respective national team.”

It’s unclear whether the missing players will be delivered via a future update or if the gamers will just have to accept the fact that they will never be available for selection.

The new content for FIFA 14 was launched late on Friday after a one-day delay.
