The development team at EA Sports announces that the Ultimate Team mode for FIFA 14 is at the moment down for a rather long maintenance period, which is set to last until 12 AM Greenwich Mean Time.

The official announcement says that the core Ultimate Team experience is not available at the moment and that gamers will also be unable to access the web section of the mode, the mobile companion app and the Football Club content.

EA Sports has not offered an official reason for the lengthy downtime, but it is probably related to changes that need to be made to the core infrastructure in order to get ready for the launch of FIFA 15.

The new game in the football sim series will be delivered in late September on the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, and last-gen consoles.

Players will be able to get access to an upgraded Ultimate Team experience which includes features like Concept Squads and Loan Players.

EA Sports has also recently detailed a range of measures that will be taken in order to make sure that all cheaters and bot users who play FIFA 15 are banned from the online modes.

UPDATE: The maintenance period for FIFA 14 Ultimate Team has been extended by two hours.
