The development team at EA Sports says that it might be able to launch a much-awaited World Cup update for the Ultimate Team mode for FIFA 14 at some point later today and that the additional Kick-Off feature might arrive a few hours earlier, although the company is not sure of that happening.

In an update to the initial delay post on the official forums, the studio explains that, “Our team is making good progress on the FUT World Cup & World Cup Kick Off update for FIFA 14. We’re doing everything we can to launch it tomorrow, with World Cup Kick Off likely launching earlier in the day.”

Initially, the two new pieces of free content were supposed to arrive on May 29, but some last-minute problems that could significantly affect gameplay were found.

Now EA Sports is scrambling to keep its promise to fans of FIFA 14 and deliver the World Cup themed content on all platforms before the end of the week.

Gamers will be able to create all new Ultimate Team squads using players with updated stats, based solely on their performance in international matches.

At the same time, they will have access to new items and consumables that can significantly enhance their performance, which cannot be traded but can be used in both online and offline modes.
