The big event for FIFA 14 this week is the launch of the new Ultimate Team mode linked to the 2014 Brazil World Cup, but the regular Team of the Week package is still being delivered by the team at EA Sports.

This week’s installment includes less well-known players, with the leaders of the attack being Landon Donovan, which has just been dropped from the World Cup United States squad, and Bobby Zamora, who is currently playing in the second tier of English football.

It’s unclear for how long the developers are planning to continue to deliver Team of the Week packages for the regular Ultimate Team section of the football sim.

The weekly drops have been crucial for the long-term popularity of the title and once they cease coming, some fans might finally stop playing it.

Of course, EA Sports hopes that it will manage to hold their attention with the World Cup content that is being launched for free on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC versions of FIFA 14.

At the moment, the studio is working on this year’s installment of the series, but it has offered no information on the core gameplay changes that will be introduced.
